| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 2 cups all-purpose flour | 1/4 cup sugar | 2 tsp baking powder |
| 1/2 tsp salt | 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar | 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon |
| 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg | 1/4 cup soft shortening | 1 egg |
| 2/3 cup milk | 2 cups thinly sliced apples | 1/3 cup melted butter |
| 1 cup chopped peanuts | ||
| 1 | Sift flour, white sugar, baking powder and salt; cut in shortening. Add egg and milk. Barely mix. Divide, and place 1/2 dough in greased 8-in. square pan. Lay apples evenly on top. Sprinkle with brown sugar, chopped peanuts and spices. Drizzle butter evenly over apples. Place the other half of dough on top of that and top with more apples, peanuts and spices. Bake in preheated hot oven 400 F. for 25 minutes. Serve warm. |
