| 5 cups flour | 4 tbsp baking powder | 1 tsp salt |
| 2 cups hot water | 2 lbs shortening | |
| 1 | Mix 4 cups flour, baking powder, salt, add water, wetting all the dry ingredients, and let stand a few minutes for dough to rise. Take the remaining flour and some of the dough, knead lightly and shape in round pieces. Fry in deep fat, drain on paper towel. |
