Cheese Bread (Hancock Shaker Village)

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups sifted flour 3 teaspoons baking powder 3/4 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 teaspoons sugar 1 cup grated Cheshire cheese 1/2 cup chopped onion
1 egg, beaten by hand with fork 3/4 cup milk 2 tablespoons melted butter



1 Sift together dry ingredients, add cheese and onion. Combine egg and milk and butter. Add to dry ingredients. Stir to blend well, do not beat. Turn into a greased 8 inch bread pan. Let stand 20 minutes. In a preheated 350 F. moderate oven bake for 1 hour.
