| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 2 heaping teaspoons chamisa or other cooking ash | 8 tablespoons boiling water | 1/2 cup finely ground blue cornmeal |
| 1 tablespoon sugar (if desired) | ||
| 1 | Mix the chamisa ash with 2 tablespoons of boiling water and set aside. |
| 2 | Measure the blue cornmeal and sugar into a bowl and stir in 5 tablespoons of boiling water. |
| 3 | Pour 2 tablespoons or more of the ash-water mixture through a strainer into the cornmeal, until the dough is distinctly blue in color. |
| 4 | Shape dough into balls the size of marbles. |
| 5 | Drop balls into 2 cups of boiling water and cook for ten minutes. |
