| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 2 cakes fresh yeast | 1 cup warm water | 1/2 cup warm milk |
| 5 Tbsp shortening | 3 Tbsp brown sugar | 1 tsp salt |
| 1 cup cornmeal | 6 cups wheat flour | |
| 1 | Mix yeast and brown sugar with warm milk and water. Beat in 1 cup of flour. Let rise until the mixture is spongy. Add the liquid shortening. Beat well. Mix in the remaining flour. Add salt last. Knead 2-5 minutes. Cover and let rise to double original size. |
| 2 | Work down and make rolls about 1x3". Let rise 30 minutes. Dampen top of roll with water and sprinkle on cornmeal. Bake 25-35 minutes at 350 degrees. |
