Indian Style Flour Tortillas

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups whole wheat flour 2 cups white flour 2 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder 1 heaping Tbsp shorting enough water to make a medium stiff dough



1 Cut in the shortening in the mixed flour. Add other ingredients and knead until a medium stiff dough is achieved.
2 Pinch off enough dough to make a ball 3" in diameter. Roll out with a rolling pin to a round tortilla about 1/8" thick.
3 Cook on a dry, hot iron skillet or griddle. Cook until slightly brown (about 3 minutes), then turn over and cook the other side.
4 To keep the tortillas warm and moist, place a tea towel in a large bowl and place a tortilla in fold after fold.
5 FOR VARIENTY, add 1/8 tsp garlic pwder and 1/2 tsp oregano.
