| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour | 1/2 cup pinon nuts, ground to meal | 2 teaspoons baking powder |
| 3/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste) | 2 tablespoons sugar | 2 teaspoons lard, butter or margarine |
| 1/2-1 cup water | ||
| 1 | Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Add shortening and mix thoroughly. Add water a bit at a time to make medium dough. |
| 2 | Knead dough for 5 minutes. Cover and let stand. Pinch off dough to make egg-sized balls and roll to round cakes about 1/8" thick. Bake in 350 degree oven or cook on stove-top griddle. Use as hot bread or serve with honey. |
