Doves with Mushroom Sauce

INGREDIENTS:
8 to 10 doves, dressed flour 1/4 cup butter
1 onion, sliced 1 can mushroom gravy 1 can (10 oz) whole mushrooms
1/4 cup dry red wine (optional) 1/2 tsp sage salt and pepper to taste



1 Dredge the doves in flour. Melt butter in a heavy skillet and sear the doves. Add onions and saute until soft. Combine remaining ingredients; mix thoroughly. Pour over doves and add enough water to cover doves completely. Cover skillet and cook over low heat for 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
