| 4 ounces half-and-half | 1-1/2 ounces brandy, bourbon, Scotch, or dark rum | 1/2 ounce simple syrup |
| 4-5 dashes of pure vanilla extract | cracked ice | pinch of grated nutmeg |
| 1 | Combine the ingredients, except the nutmeg, in a cocktail shaker filled with cracked ice and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Strain into a large Old-Fashioned glass, garnish with the nutmeg, and serve. |
