Chinese Breaded Veal Fondue

INGREDIENTS:
1 lb/500g veal shoulder, cut into 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes and thinly sliced 1 cup/250ml all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp/2ml Chinese five-spice powder
1/4 tsp/2ml garlic powder 1/4 tsp/1ml salt 1/8 tsp/0.5ml freshly ground black pepper
2 eggs 1/2 cup/125ml dry breadcrumbs 1/4tsp/1ml ground ginger
oil for fondue



1 In a bowl combine flour with five-spice powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
2 In a second bowl, beat eggs.
3 In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs and ginger.
4 Dip veal slices one at a time in flour mixture, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Set breaded veal on a platter.
5 In a saucepan heat oil to 375 F (190 C) and transfer to fondue pot (or heat oil in an electric fondue). Do not fill fondue pot more than half full.
6 Spear breaded veal with fondue fork and fondue for 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown.
