| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 1 cup shortening | 1 cup molasses | 1 cup brown sugar |
| 3-1/2 to 4 cups flour | 1-1/2 teaspoons soda | 1/2 teaspoon salt |
| 1 teaspoon ginger | 1/2 cup boiling water | |
| 1 | Cream shortening and sugar together. |
| 2 | Add molasses and continue to beat. |
| 3 | Sift flour. |
| 4 | Measure and add salt, soda and ginger. |
| 5 | Sift again. |
| 6 | Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with hot water. |
| 7 | Mix thoroughly. Chill dough in refrigerator. Roll into balls 1 inch in diameter and dip into granulated sugar. |
| 8 | Place balls on buttered baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake at 350 F. for 12 to 15 minutes. |
