| INGREDIENTS: | ||
| 4 cups all-purpose flour | 4 teaspoons baking powder | 2 teaspoons salt |
| 2 to 2-1/2 cups water | 1/4 cup shortening | 1 pound lard |
| 1 | Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. |
| 2 | Cut in 1/4 cup shortening. |
| 3 | Add enough water to make dough hold together. |
| 4 | Knead dough until it is well mixed and smooth. |
| 5 | Roll dough to 1/2-inch thckness and cut into squares or triangles. |
| 6 | Heat lard to 400F. in an electric frying pan, or to just below the smoking point in a heavy skillet. |
| 7 | Place squares of dough in hot fat, turning to brown on both sides. |
| 8 | Drain brad on absorbent paper. |
| 9 | Serve hot with beans, stews, or honey. |
